Kia ora and Hello!

Everyone, and every family, needs extra support from time to time. In Canterbury we have had a particularly tough time in the last decade. There has been a noticeable increase in the need for professional services to support young people, parents and families. Knowing when to seek help is a good skill to develop and role model. Improving mental health and strengthening relationships has benefits for now and for the future.

Tina McTear is a qualified Clinical Family Therapist, an experienced child and adolescent therapist, and a Registered Social Worker. She has provided psychiatric assessment and intervention in several Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, worked as a Child and Family Therapist at STOP for concerning and/or harmful sexual behaviour, worked as a school counsellor, and held numerous other roles in adult mental health, care and protection, work with refugees and in hospital settings.

Tina provides a welcoming, safe environment, where each person is valued and heard. Children and adolescents can use engaging, interactive approaches to reduce the effects of serious issues. Families can explore problems, strengths and preferred ways of relating away from their home environment, allowing an ‘outside’ perspective of the situation.

He waka eke noa.

We are all in this together.
